The 26 year old infamous socialite, Paris Hilton, was pulled over by police last night on Sunset Blvd. around 11:00pm after she was caught speeding and driving without her head lights on.  Just a few months back, Hilton pulled a reckless DUI stunt that placed her on 36 month probation.   After police discovered that Hilton was driving on a suspended license, they immediately impounded her $200k 2007 Bentley that she bought for herself last Christmas.Â

Paris’s publicist, Elliot Mintz, stated that right before the incident, Hilton dropped by the Virgin Megastore, in West Hollywood, to buy some DVDs.  He then claimed that the store’s parking lot was brightly lit, hence the reason why Paris did not realize that her headlights were not on.  Clever excuse, but what explains the speeding? After all, Paris has already been caught speeding on various occasions.
A hearing will be arranged some time shortly to discuss the violation.  If worse comes to worse, Hilton could end up in the slammer for 90 days. Whatever the outcome, let’s just hope that Hilton will take this incident as a learning experience, never to be repeated again.    Â

U.S. Televangelist, Reverend Peter Popoff, claims to have supernatural powers (given by God) that enable him to perform faith healing. Popoff asserts that he can cure people’s physical illnesses and disabilities with a touch of his hand. He encourages his audience to call in for a taste of his Miracle Spring Water, as a solution to one’s physical ailments and financial problems. In addition, Popoff, preaches prosperity theology under the motto “Go into business with God.” He claims that divine transfers by God can be placed into one’s personal bank account. Â
So, is Reverend Peter Popoff the real deal, or is he just a phony out to dupe the poor and helpless? To prove the latter, a team of secret investigators went to one of his shows. What the team discovered was shocking and appalling. They caught, and recorded on tape, Popoff getting assistance from his clandestine crew via an earpiece. And you always wondered how these televangelists knew so much personal information about the audience members. Before the show, audience members are asked to fill out a card with their personal information (e.g., name, purpose of visit). Then, during his faith healing services, Popoff’s assistant pulls out the card info. to disclose the individual’s data.Â
Furthermore, through slick propaganda of a form of prosperity theology, Popoff finds a way to sell himself to the audience, financially speaking.  As aforementioned, Popoff heavily promotes his Miracle Spring Water.  He promises viewers to send the miracle product to their homes with a phone call request. However, what the viewers receive instead is a miracle band. Popoff then instructs his believers to wear the band and send in a check for $28.30 (somehow tying in with Exodus 28:30). Â
Such propaganda has made Popoff millions. A news media reported that Popoff’s salary in 2004 was over $500,000, and his assets include a 2006 Porsche convertible worth $90,000. People who have been duped by Popoff are encouraged to report the incident to their respective District Attorneys.   Â

In Tina Turner’s 1993 biographical film What’s Love Got to Do with it, Turner turns to a Buddhist chant to gain strength and wisdom that ultimately liberates her from the abusive environment that had surrounded her life. So what was that chant all about? NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO is the chant practiced by Nichiren Buddhist practioners. Nichiren Daishonin, the 13th century Japanese scholar and founder, expounded that the law of the universe was NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO. What does this chant mean?
Nam (devotion): By devoting one’s life to this law through faith, pratice, and study, one can attain enlightenment.
Myoho (mystic law): Symbolizes the mysterious nature of life that one cannot fathom.
Renge (cause and effect): One’s life functions through the universal law of cause and effect
Kyo (sound or vibration): The ultimate universal truth expressed through sound/vibration.
This Sanskrit/Chinese mantra promises to enable all individuals to attain Buddhahood, or enlightenment. Many times, Buddhahood is misconcieved as a transcendental or esoteric state. However, Nichiren Buddhists view enlightenment as one’s highest state of life, or highest life condition, characterized by boundless hope, positive energy, courage, wisdom, and compassion.Â

It was just an ordinary day…I was browsing the forums and came across a solicitation for a new web directory called websgateway.com. I navigated to the correct category and clicked the submit button…what I saw next made me fall out my chair.

After all the brouhaha Brit caused in front of Esther’s Haircutting Studio in Tarzana, CA, last Friday, the owners have decided to sell her hair, the clipper she used, the can of Red Bull she was drinking, and her blue cigarette lighter. Initially, they were selling the items on Ebay, but after numerous imitations of the items were being sold, along with pranksters who were bidding, the owners established the official website www.buybritneyshair.com.
Minimum starting bid? $1,000,000. The selllers claim that a portion of the proceeds will go to various charities, although no names were disclosed.
Why did Brit do it?
Many speculate that Brit developed anxiety after K-Fed (her ex-husband and homeless backup dancer) threatened her with a hair follicle drug test, to obtain full custody of their two sons.
